Podcasters are stupid!

05.04.2005 - 22:00 / filled under default

Thanks to Eric for reminding me to blog Dave's qoute:

You sold me a dream that it was good to have a variety of opinion expressed, that citizen media was good. Don't shut the door when that is expressed in a manner you didn't anticipate.

Even if you don't choose to particpate in that manner of expression, stay consistent and support the ability of citizens to communicate to the world in a wild variety of ways. Blogs are wonderful, but they are not the evolutionary peak of interpersonal communication.

Don't be a fundamentalist, remain open to everything that dream you've been selling implies. To do anything less is to betray the ideals you've been pushing on me for years.
Oh and I do say videocasting is stupid *g* who wants to see California sunshine? ;)

No, to the point. I have seen this kind of aggression like Darren Barefoot shows it in bloggers and in podcasters. It almost seems like "I don't know it, I don't like it, make it go away.".

Bloggers try to write away the effect podcasting had on people (like it had on me), and podcasters rarely comment on a blog. They perhaps send mails.

Okay with me. As long as they don't try to tell me:

This is working for me. It has to be the same for you or you are mentally ill.
And before somebody tries to tell me, I don't know what I am talking about:

  • I try to keep my blogroll under 700 feeds now. I could easily do more, but as I have a full time job and some other time consuming activities, there needs to be a limit. And yes, I am cheating on my own limit. You find my blogroll here.

  • commute time: 15 minutes from door to desk

  • I maintain 4 blogs of my own, 1 group blog where I do administration and I have more to come

  • I have my nearly weekly english podcast, the more monthly german podcast but sushiradio has more of me

  • I don't do videoblogging (not appealing to me, but I don't fight it), but if we take a closer look at it: teaching videos are videos also. And I will on such in the future.

"okay with me" was a little lie - I would like people to be more like me - accepting, and using different media on the fly. But people enjoying both blogs and podcasts (perhaps even on the production side) are rare. But more will come.

If you don't understand, what excites me - fine. But don't try to tell me, that this is my problem ...

[Shel also has a great view on this. Looking forward to the next FIR :)}
